Hertefeld – Guardhouses
In 1906 Prince Philipp zu Eulenburg established two little
guardhouses close to the northern en-trance of the park.
Later they were called "Erich and Erika" after a self-composed
story. Only 11 square meters in size, these tiny little houses
had mostly a decorative function. After 1945 they were in-
habited for some time by a family with three children (!) and
later used as horse stables. Gradually they fell into ruin,
until in 2004 a 28 square meter connecting wing was erected
between them, making them habitable once again.
