Hertefeld - History
Hertefeld castle is first mentioned in the year 1317. In its history
the castle was submitted to frequent structural transformations,
usually around the turns of the century starting from 1600. Giving
detailed descriptions here would be too much, but with luck you will
meet a family member during your stay, who will be able to tell you
more about the interesting history of this place. If you are not so
lucky, then you can read our detailed brochure. In any case the
romantic ruin does offer various and unique views of a truly eventful
history.
Finds within the ruin show the place has been in use since the 13th
century. Archaeological excava-tions today have shown that in the
core of the ruins there was a previous building in place, dating from
the 14th century. Its shape is unknown and it is not possible to draw
